چکیده

Heat stress-induced or stress-accelerated leaf senescence is related to the accumulation of ethylene and loss chlorophyll in cool-season grass species. The objective this study was determine whether foliar-spraying inhibitor, aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG), may suppress heat-induced through effects on synthesis degrading enzymes creeping bentgrass ( Agrostis stolonifera ). Plants were maintained environmentally controlled growth chambers under non-stress (22/17 °C day/night) heat stress (35/30 temperature conditions for 25 days, turf quality, electrolyte leakage, content measured assess extent senescence. Activities chlorophyll-synthesizing chlorophyll-degrading quantified AVG regulate metabolism. foliar-sprayed with µ m before during at 7-day intervals. From 21 days stress, AVG-treated plants had significantly higher quality content, whereas leakage lower comparison untreated controls. activity a enzyme, porphobilinogen deaminase, increased stress. treated from 14 peroxidase, pheophytinase, chlorophyllase. have suppressed by regulating metabolic activities

Metabolite Responses to Exogenous Application of Nitrogen, Cytokinin, and Ethylene Inhibitors in Relation to Heat-Induced Senescence in Creeping Bentgrass

The exogenous application of ethylene inhibitors, cytokinins, or nitrogen has previously been shown to suppress heat-induced senescence and improve heat tolerance in cool-season grasses. The objectives of this study were to examine metabolic profiles altered by exogenous treatment of creeping bentgrass with an ethylene inhibitor, cytokinin or nitrogen under heat stress and to determine metaboli...

Creeping Bentgrass Cultivar Influences Biocontrol

Printed on recycled paper SUMMER 2001 24 A Healthy Ecosystem Inconsistent performance of biological control strategies for turfgrass disease control has limited the adoption of this technology into IPM programs. A major contributing factor to this variable performance in agricultural systems is the cultivar to which biological control organisms are applied. In a recent study, our goal was to de...

Heat Shock Proteins in Relation to Heat Stress Tolerance of Creeping Bentgrass at Different N Levels

Heat stress is a primary factor causing summer bentgrass decline. Changes in gene expression at the transcriptional and/or translational level are thought to be a fundamental mechanism in plant response to environmental stresses. Heat stress redirects protein synthesis in higher plants and results in stress protein synthesis, particularly heat shock proteins (HSPs). The goal of this work was to...

Moss Control in Creeping Bentgrass Putting Greens

Moss (Bryum argenteum) continues to become one of the most problematic weeds in creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) putting greens. Control of moss can be approached in many different ways, including chemical applications, and cultural practices such as correcting shading or poor drainage. A study was conducted at Springdale Country Club (Springdale, Ark.) to evaluate the effectiveness of s...

Irrigation methods affect wheat flag leaf senescence and chlorophyll fluorescence in the North China Plain

The water resource shortage in North China Plain is an increasing threat to the sustainabilityof wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production. A two-year field experiment was conducted toexamine the effects of two supplemental irrigation (SI) methods on wheat flag leaf senescence, chlorophyll fluorescence and grain yield. The following field treatments were conducted:no irrigation (W0); SI with 60 mm...
